Jeep sales dropped 12% compared with May, 2005. Chrysler Group reported that U.S. sales for May 2006 declined 14 percent to 191,261 units compared to sales of 214,575 units in May 2005.

Jeep(R) Commander, the first Jeep with 7-passenger seating, posted a sales increase of 20 percent to 6,138 units over April 2006 sales of 5,301 units.

In 2006, the Jeep brand will continue to expand with the addition of a new Jeep Wrangler, Jeep Compass and Jeep Patriot models.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee nameplate broadens its appeal with the addition of the 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee diesel, the first diesel-powered full-size sport utility vehicle in the U.S. The Jeep Grand Cherokee diesel is powered by a 3.0-liter CRD engine which provides up to a 30 percent improvement in fuel economy.

The 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee with the 3.0-liter CRD engine will be available on the Laredo, Limited and Overland models beginning in the first quarter of 2007.

I agree about the engines.

I want to replace my wagon with a jeep, but it must get = to or better mileage.

that would be 24/31 for my 1.8t vw wagon.

The diesel has me very interested though, are they going to put that in the commander and wrangler.

I guess it's a difficult time to sell gas-guzzling SUVs to the general populus. Better start offering some more efficient vehicles that qualify for big tax credits. Make the choice easier for the consumer and keep it affordable too.

hopefully the low sales will cause DC to continue to offer the 0% and offer it on ALL the models including the new 4 door wrangler - like the did on the Rubicon when it came out.

Sales will continue to drop until better engine options are seen, and if they truely wanted to increase sales, the gladiator would hit the dealers. What ever happened to the jeepster, the car looked amazing and would surely boost jeep sales...
