In a nutshell, the loved it:

The Rubicon would fatally charley horse a Honda Pilot and chew up a RAV4 like so much Bubblicious. The Jeep Wrangler, especially the all-rawhide Rubicon edition with its extra ground clearance, has no competitors.

...snip...

This Jeep is as Jeeps always have been since 1940: tough, capable, virtually unstoppable ó but now chubbier and a bit softer. Show us a 66-year-old that isnít.

It's a great review about the vehicle's performance on the Rubicon Trail in California. Check out the entire review.

My neighbor just purchased the 4 door rubi. I checked it out took a ride and its a very nice jeep, more space, more convience, more of just about everything compared to my 05 rubi unlimited. However, when we put them side by side I like the look of the 05 rubi over the 07 rubi but thats it i like everthing else on the 07. I just like the look of the 05 grill and stance compared to the 07 or course i might be leaning towards this since i own it and the neighbor towards his as he owns the 07.

For serious trails the 05 rubi unlimited is about as long as i would want to go the 4 door is much too long on to make it on many trails ive taken especially in washouts and gullys heck mine hits tail and i bet the 07 would hang up....anyway the 07 is very nice overall........

I don't understand why you cannot at least get the 4.7 V8 in the unlimited! It's an off the shelf engine, is durable and makes good power w/decent fuel economy. If some engineer made the engine bay too small for a V8 they should be fired, beaten and thrown under a train.

Imagine a 4.7V8 with a stick! That would have been awesome.

I hear that the new "NHSTA crash worthiness" standards necessitated better "crumple zones" which resulted in less available engine space.

Still, I've got money that says someone will be modifying the JK/JKL engine compartment to put in that 4.7LV8, or a 5.7L HEMI, or a 6.1L (SRT) HEMI, sometime soon. How about the 4.0L I6 stroked to 4.6L with 260HP/295ft-lbs, available from Golen? http://www.golenengineservice.com/html/jp_mag.html

Great review and very much on target as to the 2007 Wrangler Rubicon's dominance over all other would be pretenders in this vehicle class. "IF" DCX acknowledges the inadequate engine performance and fixes the issue (which they can easily do), the 2007 Wrangler will achieve the highest customer approval of any Jeep produced so far. The often asked question' What is a Jeep" has been answered again by the "Car and Driver" review, while leaving no doubt that this evolution of the Jeep product sets a standard that competitors will only dream about.

Good confirmation of what most of us already know: the JK is a great off-roader with a lot of improvements over the TJ, but has an anemic minivan powertrain.

11.2 sec 0-60? Is that Yugo territory!?

For the record, the H3 powertrain was also F'd up with a 3.5L I-5 220HP engine --not a lot for a tank. GM has since upgraded that to a 3.7L I-5 with 242HP. Better...
