A gain in Jeep Wrangler sales over last year--a surprising 28.2%, given Chrysler's collapse--is also due to the strength of the Jeep brand.
"Of all the vehicles individually within the Chrysler lineup, I think this is probably the vehicle that has the strongest brand identity," Schuster says. "The Wrangler is Jeep. That helps. I think on top of that, they had a very strong incentive program in February ... that kind of gave that vehicle a nice lift."
That's a pretty good summary. Check out the entire article for info on additional models that made modest sales gains in February.

I've always felt that Jeeps should be built around the Wrangler.
People didn't want a Liberty (not really), they wanted a 4-door Wrangler. They don't want a Commander, they want a 7-seater Wrangler. They don't want a Patriot, they want a Wrangler that gets excellent gas mileage and is comfortable on city streets. It has the following that none of their other vehicles have. The GC kinda has a following but nothing like the Wrangler. The only one that came close was the XJ. At least in recent years. I say go with a Wrangler, a Gladiator, a 7-seater Rescue and a legitimate Willys (compact, high mpg) concept and they have a winning lineup. They just don't know a good thing when the have it... |

Build it capable, and they will buy. This is what many of us have been saying for years.
