With all the plant shutdowns - not to mention the little bankruptcy issue - Chrysler now finds itself scrambling a little bit trying to get the all-new 2011 Grand Cherokee out the door in time.
According to the Detroit Free Press, Chrysler is asking some workings to not take their 2 week summer break:
Now, after its 41-day journey through bankruptcy, it's time for Chrysler to make cars and trucks again. But key products such as the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Chrysler 300 are behind schedule, and the company now has begun telling some workers they can't go for the full two weeks or at all.
"We're already behind schedule," said one salaried worker who agrees with the decision but did not want to be identified.
Chrysler spokesman David Elshoff said most workers should be able to take their planned two weeks off unless they are involved in business-critical activities.
On one hand, I would think that most workers are just happy they still have jobs. On the other hand, it can't be easy hearing that their vacations are suddenly cancelled...

I would prefer if they were a few weeks behind schedule rather than hurry out this model. They need to hit a home run with this Jeep! From the pictures it looks like they are close, but I am afraid they will miss on quality to hit a deadline.

you must be kidding!! The workers have been off for weeks. Come back for a couple and now its time for a vacation? They should all be rested up and now its time to get the company back on its feet. They have had so many days off this year they should be thrilled they have a job to come back to.
