Workers at the Chrysler Assembly plant in Toledo, Ohio thought they were going back to work this week to restart assembly of the Jeep Liberty and Dodge Nitro. Unfortunately, they were notified that the plant wouldn't open back up until July 27.
Chrysler had intended to recall laid-off workers at the plant for three days of “prep work” before resuming production, Chrysler spokesman Max Gates said. Workers at that factory have been idled since Chrysler sought bankruptcy protection on April 30.
When workers return, Mr. Gates, said they will continue making 2009 model year vehicles “for a short time” before switching over to 2010 models.
Thanks to The Toledo Blade for the heads-up.
