Thanks to long-time reader Renegade for sending over some additional links about the Jeep Nukizer, one of Mopar's latest "Moparized" vehicles.
Top Speed has a brief synopsis and photo to go along with the standard press release.
...an all-purpose truck that pays homage to the Kaiser M-715 truck. Based on a Jeep J8 four-door military vehicle, the Nukizer 715 gets a new front clip produced in carbon fiber, a wheelbase stretched to 124 inches from 116 inches...
Over at PickupTrucks.com, they actually got a test drive in the Nukizer (as well as some great photos), and they were impressed:
The 2.8-liter four-cylinder VM Motori turbo-diesel used in the J8 platform was kept in the Nukizer’s DNA, but it was upgraded with a new tune to provide more horsepower and torque while being coupled to the factory four-speed automatic transmission. Weighing in at a moderately hefty 4,500 pounds, the Nukizer still felt nimble, and there was no seeming lack of power or torque coming from the diesel.

I drive a Wrangler Unlimited, UK Spec, with the 2.8 deisel engine. Great engine. I previously had the straight six 4.0L and I much prefer the 2.8, especially off road. Our American cousins are really missing out on this one.

It seems like it is about time for Jeep to step up and build one of these truck type concepts for the Jeep customers after repeatedly "TEASING" us with concepts like the Gladiator, JK Pickup and now the Nukizer 715. The reality is they could easily set up the now or soon to be dormant Viper plant to build a limited number of the Nukizer 715 models without disrupting an existing plant or tooling up for high volumes. I suggest that if Mr. Mike Manley has any "cojones" he will pressure his Management to produce 1000 to 2000 of these vehicles. If there is a huge hang up with the diesel they would need to resolve that for sure but Wrangler customers have been screaming for the diesel for years now. Is anyone really listening to the customer???

Why does Diamler, Chrysler, Fiat or whatever they are called today keep teasing us with these "concept" vehicles? They continue to refuse to actually produce anything worth buying. I have bought my last new Jeep, unless they make something that changes my mind... which I doubt they will.

Enough with the CRD teaser concepts that Daimler, Chrysler, and now Fiat will fail to produce SMOG-passable in the US!
Build something that can be sold as a diesel in the US, or get out. |

Mopar, Fiat, or Jeep....
Please build us one of these. We asked for a great truck. We understand that the Dodge brand builds your trucks..but this looks better than these last few concepts that your ram has put out. Get on with it. |
