An article in USAToday is suggesting that a 2005 Jeep Gladiator concept vehicle was recently painted yellow and displayed at the Chrysler Dealer's meeting in Orlando earlier this year. It is suggested that the vehicle was shown as part of a preview of an upcoming Wrangler-based pickup truck.
While there is no confirmation of this, it is clear that the Gladiator was one of the more popular Jeep concept cars of the past few years (anyone remember the Dakar?)
The article also pointed to a Toledo Blade story about the promise of a Jeep-branded pickup as further proof.
What do you think? If there is a Jeep-branded pickup, how will you feel if it looks like the Gladiator?

As an aside, I know that the Panda is lauded for what it can do but it doesn't look like a Jeep, that's for sure. And though that's just a PhotoChop job by someone with time on his hands, we've come to expect just that sort of "Hey, let's put a 7-slotted grille and round headlamps on this thing and call it a Jeep!" thinking.
I'd rather they get back to basics, take a Willys MB out and come up with an updated version. While the specs on an MB or CJ2A aren't exactly that of a Panda, it could provide the platform for a Willys model in a Jeep model if Fiat/Chrysler is set on going that route. Plus, I've always felt like the Wrangler shouldn't be the only Jeep with a removable top and doors, etc. |

Yes! I emailed Chrysler twice last year on how the 2005 Gladiator Concept should be a production truck. There is still a market for people who don't need a huge truck, just something practical. I will buy a Gladiator over a Tacoma any day. I'm sure I'm not the only Jeep loyal out there.

Been waiting for a Jeep truck for too long. Whether a JT, Gladiator.

They should have built it 6 years ago. I'd be elated if it looked like the Gladiator, spare on the side and all. I like the NuKizer concept as well but honestly feel like that should be built as a full-sized vehicle.
