Yes, the Panda is VERY ugly! But I'm with ya on the re-introducation of a flatfender Willys based on the panda platform and the 95 HP turbo diesel. Rubicon ready of course. I'd take it a step further and have the whole line of retro Willys with a baby pickup, a baby hardtop wagon and a stretch version of the flatfender (Limited model). Yes, they'd have to meet crash standards, rollover standards etc, but they would sell a ton of them, you could take them on the narrow trails built for flatfenders, and they would bring the fleet MPG average way up! The rollover standard could be met by having an in cab adjustable ride height mechanism like the new GC. Low and safe on the street, high on the trail. Yet comfortable to drive several hours to the trail. Hopefully you could get a trail worthy version for less than $30K though!!! Spray out the inside with a hose to clean it. I dream too much.

This was simply a photo shop done by an individual not associated with Jeep or Fiat. It says so at the end. BUT there will be an update of the Panda with a version developed by Jeep for this platform. The Fiat Pandas are actually prized for their off road capability and 60 MPG when equiped with the diesel (now 95 HP). There is speculation that the Jeep version might be a sort of mini wrangler or maybe the Jeep Willys concept. I'd like one for my daily driver. But in a recent interview by Car and Driver, Mike Manly said it will be sold in countries outside of North America. I assume they think we don't like small cars, diesel power, or anything that does not look like an egg with 22 inch wagon wheels and little gangsta windows with a 7 liter engine.

I looked at those pictures and I felt sick at the thought that it could happen. Jeep Management won't build a top end Wrangler Rubicon. But, they might build a bottom end "peoples car". I guess the biggest insult will be that they will say it has Jeep “heritage” as opposed to being a Fiat knockoff!

Renegade got it exactly right! Build it! I hope to see the turbo diesel as an option, along with heavy duty axles with selectable lockers (or a Rubicon edition).
