Dodge SUV based on the Jeep Liberty to be built at Jeep plant?

One of our favorite Jeep-lovers sites is that of Al Miller at http://www.almiller.com/. Al's got some information (and a photo) about a potential Dodge SUV that is based on the Jeep Liberty that is going to be built in Toledo at the Jeep assembly plant. We've been unable to confirm this anywhere else, so treat this as a rumor for now...

Dodge Liberty. DODGE Liberty. Suddenly it all makes sense!

The Libby never was a proper Jeep. It even failed to work as a "baby Grand", despite the fact that Grand Cherokee has been drifting further from the Jeep ideal with each iteration.

But as a "baby Durango", the Liberty platform has found its niche.

Let's hope it stays there.

The Dodge SUV sure looks a lot like the Jeep Compass concept. Sharing vehicles among the DC family seems to be the direction they want to take, so this would not surprise me. Did anyone look at the various photos of the Toledo Jeep plant that is on Al Miller's web site?

Glad to hear Jeep sales are up, but I wonder if the main accelerant has been the rebates and zero percent financing. Predicitions have been that most auto manufacturers are going to start to ease up on the rebates.
