FRANKFURT (Reuters) - DaimlerChrysler said Thursday second-quarter operating profit fell, beating expectations, but the news was overshadowed by Chief Executive Juergen Schrempp's plan to resign.

From the looks of the spy shots we have seen of the Wrangler and Rescue, Jeep is not losing its brute strength heritage.

I think your fears of Jeep going "hip hop" and "bling bling" (Lord, when will people learn that term is a year or two out of date) are a bit unfounded. Sure, the Commander may be marketed with help from Missy Elliot. But come on, you should base your vehicle purchase on appearance, capability, etc.

The Commander has classic boxy styling and the fact it has superior traction control should be used for making your choice, not whom DCX chooses to appear in the ads.
