WranglerNew 4 door TK spy shot

The Inside Line has a short article and a new spy shot of the 2007 4-door TK. The photo shows a good view of the front end of the new Jeep. The article also mentions that the success of the diesel Liberty may have opened the door for a diesel Wrangler. Here's a snippet:

Solid axles and rear leaf springs are clearly visible on this prototype so the Wrangler won't be straying too far from its roots in the suspension department. Four-wheel disc brakes also look to be part of the package.

The base engine on the 2007 Wrangler will be a 2.4-liter four-cylinder with a 3.7-liter SOHC V6 available as an option. The surprising success of the Jeep Liberty diesel may have also opened the door for a diesel-powered Wrangler. All of these engines will most likely be paired with either a five-speed automatic or a six-speed manual transmission.

The headlamps are round via the gladiator and rescue concept in which this vehicke is heavly based on. They are just throwing you guys off with the camo. I would buy a 4 door wrangler if they offered it in deisel!!!!! I would keep my unlimited for rock crawling!!!!! The pics of the rear are removeable, I don't think the whole panel concept is true based on the photos, I would expect the softtop to be like the photo and the hardtop to be fixed like the rescue???????

 Removable Roof
You could be right about the lights Rubicon. Speculation sure is fun though.

I will say the more I look at the pictures, the more I think it's much more than just roof panels tht will be removable on the TK. Look the pictures of the side view and of the back. the seams on the camo on the sides meet up with the rear gate on an even and strait line like you could lift that portion above that line and behind the door right off. Anyone have a thought on that?

I believe it is just the camoflague that is making the lights look square. But then again, who knows (other than the designers). I personally like the round lights on a Wrangler better but that is only my opinion.

I would find it odd they would choose to go with square lights with it because they have been working hard to put round (or psuedo-round) headlights on every Jeep

I'm gonna kick you "SQUAW" in the ...
Is it just me that thinks those headlights look a little [square]? I don't see anything so far that looks bad though. Nit-picks are the top and the potential balloon in price. Also would like to hear some confirmation on the diesel option. I think DCX would be foolish not to drop in a diesel and a 6-speed.

By the way, the title is from a fat kid in South Park.

Harkens the 'ol YJ days, huh?

Wouldn't that be GREAT if it had square lights????

I'd still keep my YJ though..."The Original Only One Jeep with Square Headlights"

Ha ha.

I thought having round headlights was something like having big feet?

Seriously though, if DCX goes with square headlights they'll give some jeepers something to moan and complain about. I actually think this would be a smart move. Knowing some of us, we'd find something to complain about on the TK. If all we find to complain about is the shape of the lights, then I'd say DCX did a pretty good job on the TK.

I also wanted to point out something that's got me thinking on the concept pictures. I think it's interesting to note the seams on the camouflage. The seam right behind the rear doors just happens to match up with where a canvass or hardtop would lift off of a TJ. I wonder if that part behind the doors would pop off just like these roof panels we hear about would pop off?
