Chrylser sold 226,179 vehicles in October, a 20 percent increase over October 1997 and its fourth monthly sales record in the last six months.

Both the Wrangler and Cherokee showed substancial increases while the Grand Cherokee dropped. The drop in the Grand Cherokee sales is due to buyers passing on the 98GC to wait for the 99GC. Since the Wrangler and Cherokee did not have major changes between 98 and 99, buyers where grabbing them at end-of-the-model-year sales.
