Jeep gets Army contract

According to, Chrysler LLC was awarded a contract to deliver long-wheelbase Jeeps to the army. This doesn't appear to be for the recently announced J8, but rather a military version of the Wrangler Unlimited.
Chrysler International Corp. was awarded a $38 million contract for commercial Wrangler long wheelbase Jeeps, diesel engines, transmissions, and transfer cases by the U.S. Army Tank - Automotive and Armaments Command in Warren, Michigan. The contract was initiated in June 2006, and delivery is due by February 2008. doesn't list their source for this news, so if anyone has any additional details, let us know.
