The auto maker will instead provide a five-year, or 100,000-mile warranty across its product portfolio, said Chrysler spokeswoman Jodi Tinson. The switch starts with the 2010 models, which are already arriving on dealer lots.

Tinson said the lifetime idea was dropped amid consumer confusion and the inability to transfer the warranty if the car was sold second-hand to another buyer.
