The Toledo Blade has reported that the last of the 3.8L V6 engines has rollled off the line, and going forward all Wranglers (US) will have the Pentastar 3.6L V6 and transmission from the Grand Cherokee.
Workers at the automakerís Trenton North engine plant built their last 3.8-liter engine this month, marking the end of 20 years of production of the powerplant that for years drove vehicles as varied as the Chrysler Fifth Avenue and certain versions of the Chrysler Town & Country and Dodge Grand Caravan minivans.

The 3.8-liter was retuned and introduced into the Wrangler in 2007, the same year then-DaimlerChrysler introduced the four-door Unlimited version of the iconic vehicle.

One could only hope they've got some seriously low transmission gearing planned for the Rubicon models, and additional Optional Engines are offered soon (Hemi, CRD, 4.7 H.O.).
